Safe. Self. Sense (Dance Film+Exhibition+live Performance)
As a human being we need love. So in these times, what is love? Is love to stay safe and wait, slowly losing more and more precious time, being separated? Or is love to break free from restrictions and live life to the fullest here and now, knowing that we might die at any moment anyway ? How to be deal with this isolation? Which screen attracts out attention the most?
Dutch film director David Verbeek & Taiwanese dancer/choreographer Yu He Lin are an artist duo producing installations that attempt to find a new audio-visual language through cinematography & modern dance in a multiple screen set-up combining laser lighting, smoke, immersive sound and electronic music.
This installation will have a running time minutes and will be presented in a large dark space, in or outdoor, on three large square 2×2 meters screens and an immersive sound system. The audience will sit on cushions on the floor and the screens will be in front of them, separated by a distance of 2 meters from each other, angled towards the audience, with the two outer screens on the left and right making a slight curve towards the centre.
The three screens from left to right represent Safe/ Self/ Sense. Through the imagery story telling, the work creates an inner-landscape of anxiety as it has been experienced internationally over the last years of global pandemic.
